June 24, 2025 Teaching Retreat: Assignment Alchemy Registration
At Assignment Alchemy, faculty will bring an assignment they choose to work on and revise and fine tune the assignment based on guided activities, peer feedback sessions, and dedicated time to think in a community of colleagues.
The objectives of the 2025 CETAL Teaching Retreat, focused on assignment design, are for participants to
Receive constructive feedback on a drafted assignment (at any stage of the design process from new idea to tried and tested assignment) and provide targeted feedback to colleagues.
Ensure the assignment meets the participant’s intentions in regards to alignment with intended learning outcomes, appropriate course and professional context, and grading and feedback mechanism.
Apply elements of the Transparency Framework to an assignment to make the assignment’s purpose and relevance explicit to students.
1-day face-to-face workshop on ECC’s campus, Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 9:00am- 4:00pm
Held in E121 as well as various E building conference rooms
Facilitated by Tyler Roeger, Associate Dean of CETAL, and Heather Martin, Assistant Dean of CETAL, with Teaching Retreat participants rotating as discussion leads for small group segments
Limit of up to 12 participants
In addition to receiving constructive feedback on an assignment, participants will receive support in the way of
Coffee, tea, light breakfast, and snacks
Lunch
Laptops, available to borrow, and other materials such as notepads and pens
Resource Book
Quiet, communal space to work on campus
Faculty participants will receive 7 CETL workshop clock hours towards lane movement credit.

When a classroom comes along, YOU CAN FLIP IT! At Flip It, Flip It Good, faculty will bring a lesson they choose to work on and revise it to align with a flipped classroom model based on guided activities, peer feedback sessions, and dedicated time to think in a community of colleagues.
The objectives of the 2024 CETAL Teaching Retreat, focused on flipped lesson design, are for participants to
Engage in discussions about scholarship on teaching & learning and learn about innovative and evidence-based practices in particular areas.
Receive targeted feedback from colleagues and ask their own questions about their materials
Create time dedicated to reflection on teaching and to planning time free of distractions.
Receive support by the means of dedicated quiet space on campus, community environment, and coffee, snacks, and lunch.
Build connections and community with others at ECC.
